Orienteering is big business!

Legends supplies branded merchandise for Orienteering events

woc-2015-volunteers.jpgOver the past three years I have supplied Scottish Orienteering with branded kit for coaches and Orienteering events such as JK2012, Scottish 6 Days 2013 and the Lakes 5 Days 2014 with branded merchandise.

This year I was delighted to be asked to supply event team clothing and merchandise to both the World Orienteering Championships and the Scottish 6 Days which ran pretty much concurrently in the Inverness, Moray and Nairn areas in August.

Kit supplied included printed technical t-shirts and softshell gilets for the event team volunteers. And a range of printed technical and cotton t-shirts and embroidered polo shirts and hoodies which sold out.

Both events were a tremendous success and enjoyed by orienteers and spectators alike. The benefits to the local economy were staggering with an estimated £7.4 million in direct or indirect expenditure in the Highlands and Moray as a result of the events and almost £9.5million in Scotland as a whole.

The events attracted athletes, support teams and spectators from 34 different nations and of the 8217 participants and spectators attending 94% remained in the region overnight.

World-wide exposure was gained with live television coverage, including for the first time live coverage within the UK through BBC Alba.

I was thrilled in a very small way via Legends Promotional Products to contribute to the success of an amazing festival of Orienteering and would like to congratulate everyone who helped make these fantastic events possible, especially Race Director Paul McGreal and Volunteer Manager Linda Cairns.
